Umayyad Caliphate Silver Dirham of Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan

A remarkable early Islamic silver dirham struck during the reign of the influential Umayyad caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, credited with establishing the standardized Islamic coinage system that transformed the monetary history of the Islamic world.

Minted in Kufa in AH 80 (699/700 CE), one of the earliest and most historically significant periods of Umayyad coinage. 

The coin displays a superb strike for this early al-Kufa issue, with exceptionally sharp inscriptions and strong overall detail rarely encountered on surviving examples from the period. Its attractive surfaces and well-preserved condition further enhance its desirability.
